Ok, just got my servo's this morning !

Image

As I was supposing, they are not really "Standard", they are a little taller than a standard servo.

I've assembled all the hardware I've already made and programmed the basic stance of the leg.

Now, I just have to make all the remaining brackets and pursue the head design. (Don't know yet which battery I will use)

Removed quoted images from the previous post. No reason for that.

Their torque is rated at 17 kg.cm (6V).
Also, I've done some current measurements and they draw only 250 mA when under load.

Ok, I've finished the left leg two days ago but wasn't satisfied of the servo brackets, they are too light for me.

So, I got to a local DIY store where thay had some nice extruded profile. I took one U-shaped to make some tests and here is the result :

It's really better looking and tougher than the old ones.

Thickness is 2 mm. I don't know the alloy type, but it's really harder than the previous one (also, it's already anodized).
My carbides drills and diamond blades had a hard time !

Dimensions of the profile is 30*30*30 mm, so I just cut to 24*30*24. Also, it costs almost nothing, around 0.50 euro per bracket (without the price of replacing the drills and saw blades which will wear with time).

EDIT : Just made the body :

looking really nice. what have you used to assemble the clear lexan panels. hot glue? conventional way is to cut out notches but yours looks just a neat.

I've used the conventional way. There are 4 notches in each side panel and the horizontal ones just fit in them.

The clear body makes it hard to see the design. I see one bright red leg and then a translucent body.
