I need to build a conveyer belt system for a science project, and am looking at the tracks here. I was told that I need a passive idler hub; but I don't see one used on, for eample, the tri-track chassis assembly.
What does a passive idler hub do, as compared to just the universal hub?

p.s. I'm very new at this, so sorry if this is a dumb question - any advice will be MUCH appreciated!

A passive hub is one that is not connected to a motor. You will see they are used in two places on the TriTrack chassis.

They are in the two lower positions in this image.

From this guide.

Your application may only require a motor on one end, and a passive hub on the other. 8)
