Hey everyone,

I picked up one of these cheep receivers a couple weeks ago and realized later there was development for it.
Look at Er9x firmware,

It's an open source firmware that allows you to open up the possibilities of this transmitter. I bought one flashed the firmware and its by far the most inexpensive transmitter out there.
The controller itself has 7 switches on it, 3 pots and 2 gimbals, and a boat load of mixing features, things that $1000 tx's have on them.

The transmitter itself will output 16 channels, however I'm not certain on which receivers work for them. This is a fantastic transmitter if you want to use for RC without a lot of $ to spend.

Well if you need help it's really easy to do.

Look at the guides, once you do the hack you will realize how bad the firmware is you are using... look at the videos on how to do it..
I bet you once your finished watching them you will start taking it apart!

Also highly interested - I use a Eurgle 2.4Ghz 3CH for my RC cars, and it's been fantastic.

So this one:

... where is the site with upgradable firmware, and how do you get 16CH (it states only 9CH stock)

This is the first video this Russian guy put out, after watching the video it becomes quite clear how lacking the orignal firmware is... lacking isn't the correct word, the correct word is CRAP.

For what I use the controller for 95% of the features are not necessary like mixing, curves and really WAY advanced mixing... However if you have a airplane/glider/heli this thing is dope!

However there's a couple firmwares out there that are all customizable. Er9x and 9xCompanion, probably a couple others..

Honestly do it, just watch the videos they become quite clear.

Even for straight robotics this offers quite a bit of flexibility..

im happy not to upgrade the firmware. i have no need.
when the day comes that we can transmit PWM as well as PPM and PCM from the receiver ill be interested. :)

I think he meant 16 functions. 9 channels and *7 additional modes (*pots and switches) thats if you count the 3 point switch used for 3 position flaperons.
In fact 'the transmitter (before upgrade) can only transmit through 8 channels by default.

I believe the hack allows you to transmit ppm data, I know ppm data can come out of the trainer port.
--Aaron

there are quite a bit of additional modes that you can send, if you want any specific photos I can provide those to you.. If you lived closer Id upgrade your transmitter for free. I did it with a bus pirate took about 45 minutes to flash since the device I have isn't really the proper device to flash, most of the ones online flash it in like 10 seconds.

Its only 160k that you flash directly to the Atmega chip.

I just think its fantastic! I love all these cheep devices that get ripped apart and hacked...

Anyway its a cheep little tx/rx combo.. I like it.

PS I think the whole 9x thing is kind of a dumb name, as the rx only receives 8 channels, the way I have mine setup is a 3 position switch with 3 additional pots, the other switches for me are kinda useless, although having that many pots for a 18 servo hexapod walker is going to be kind of interesting once I start trying to wrap my head around what values to change with the pots... should be interesting. I'll have photos of it all at some point if people want them. and I'm always up for ideas.

the Turnigy 9x is an interesting platform, however I just got set up with the T7C and a pair of XCVRs!

Have him drop ship one to you, and you could download and forward it to him! (oh yeah, borders).

Hay! I'm not that far! (OR - CA).
