Lynxmotion Tech Support

Hi everyone,

So I can connected my AL5A arm to Lynxterm (shown in attached photo 1) and control the servos thereafter. But I cannot connect it to RIOS (the wait... keeps there for multiple minutes without connecting, shown in attached photo 2 and 3, and when in photo3, the green LED light on the board was blinking at about one "on-off" per second), also it cannot be connected in Dual Lynx Arm Controller (shown in attached photo4). As the instruction says the software will automatically connecte to the arm, correct?

To add some details, although I said Lynxterm works for me, I mean when I drag the bar the servo works accordingly. But according to the instruction on the lynxmotion website (step 19 at http://www.lynxmotion.com/images/html/build40d.htm), it says "Type "ver" and press "enter". You should see "SSC32-V2.01XE" or higher returned.", but when I type "ver" and enter, nothing happens. And when I clicked the "Reg", it says "can't find SSC-32 card". So probabaly even the Lynterm doesn't work properly?

So I was wondering is there anything fundermentally wrong in my set-up?


I'm using Windows 7 system. Please give me help, thank you guys a lot!

As I mentioned in other posts, I don't have RIOS so can only give you some generalized feedback...

You say you type VER, but nothing is returned. Sounds like maybe you don't have bidirectional communications. Could be jumpers bad on SSC-32. Do you have both jumpers installed as in #14 of the diagram in: http://www.lynxmotion.com/images/html/b ... m#ssc32lay

If so Could be your Serial connection to the PC is not working properly. On General principal I always ask/check to make sure you have good power to your SSC-32...

Also if Ver command was working, I would also mention to make sure to close Lynxterm or at least disconnect comm port before trying RIOS as only one program can talk to it at a time.

In the lynxterm comport dropdown box, see if there is another comport available besides com1. the displayed com1 might be occupied ba an internal modem or similar.

Thought about that too, except he says that he moves the slider in Lynxterm and the servo moves, so it has some communication on Com1:...

Also with Com1: I wondered if internal comm port that is using interrupts and the like and that there was a conflict... But probably not likely as it is a Windows 7 machine...

Also wondered what Baud rate each program is configured for...

Thank you very much Kurt, I plan to buy another DB9 USB-serial cable and SSC-32 board from Lynxmotion and see whether it improves. Thans again for your help. Min

To summarize:

1) Try a different USB to serial adapter / cable
2) Ensure the associated drivers are installed and working correctly.
3) Choose the correct COM port via Lynxterm and verify everything works and the SSC-32 is picked up
4) Try RIOS and see that the SSC-32 is picked up
5) How are you powering the SSC-32? Send an image or wiring diagram.
6) Check baud rate (in the software and the SSC-32 itself - two jumpers)
